The modern phenomenon that is Canvas Art has developed into a major international fashion movement in the avant garde sphere of the 'noughties', the term adopted to refer to the Millennium decade.

In the 60's all fashionistas were obsessed with the bright aesthetics of Pop Art, whilst the 70's saw the rise of the 'Flower Power' cult. Canvas art is a forum that blends the boundaries of traditional and contemporary art and merges them in a highly aesthetically pleasing, in vogue method. It can be argued that canvas art is quite unique in its ability to accomplish this, with a prime example being the famous Still Life by Van Gough being represented on a series of 5- split canvases. Such an image is very traditional but when employed within the medium of a modern piece, the results are surprisingly very aesthetic.
